Firelands Dailies in Mount Hyjal | Maximizing Rage Against The Flame Choices

Firelands Dailies In Mount Hyjal

Within Mount Hyjal lies the Sanctuary of Malorne Firelands dailies quest hub.  The Sanctuary of Malorne Firelands quest hub will give you 3 Firelands dailies quests per day.  Completing these quests will earn you Marks of the World Tree and will help get you closer to unlocking your Firelands vendors

Each day you will receive 3 of the daily quests.  1 is a set quest that you will get each day:  Protectors of Hyjal (with Mankrik and the others that assist you) that requires 6 kills at Sethria's Roost.  You also receive one of the 2 chain quests where you either gather birds, save bears from the trees, collect deer spirits, howl on corpses, or kick turtles into the water.  Each of these original quests is followed up by a quest to kill a summoned mini-boss.  The 3rd set of dailies will be one of the Rage Against the Flames quests (80% chance) or the easy quest to pick herbs (20% chance).  The Rage Against the Flames quests will require killing any of the mobs in the Mount Hyjal Regrowth or Sethria's Roost areas.  Depending on which Rage Against the Flames quest is the random Firelands Daily, you will have to kill 6, 7, 8, or 9 mobs in the area.

Maximizing Rage Against The Flames

Everyday your Firelands Daily quests in Mount Hyjal will require a minimum of 7 kills.  For mazimization purposes, we should research which of the remaining possible targets that can be killed for the quests that require extra kills, like Rage Against the Flames 8 & 9, as well as Perfecting Your Howl, which requires 10 kills and corpse howls.  On some days the 7 you must kill to complete your dailies will be all the killing you will need. Depending on the combination of random Firelands Dailies chosen, you may need to kill even more mobs.  Which of these mobs will be the better targets as far as loot tables go?

Rage Against The Flames Target Options
  • Brimstone Hound
  • Scarred Acolyte
  • Charred Invader
  • Flame Terror
  • Brimstone Destroyer
  • Charred Flamewaker
  • Firey Behemoth
  • Seething Pyrelord
  • Summoned Bosses from the 2 part daily quests chain
  • One of the 4 Elite Roaming Bosses
Every day you must kill the 6 at Sethria's Roost and the 1 summoned mini-boss, so that is the 7 minimum that will award you credit.  Based on their loot tables and gathering options, these are your choices.  Choose your extra targets based on your Professions and what material resources you would like to gather while completing your Firelands Dailies quest objectives for the Sanctuary of Malorne daily quest hub.

Are you a Skinner?  Brimstone Hounds can be skinned for Savage Leather, but they only drop vendor trash when looted.

Are you a Miner?  Seething Pyrelords at Sethria's Roost only drop vendor trash, but their corpses can be mined and can produce 2-3 Volatile Earth or 1-7 Elementium Ore.  You can often find un-mined corpses around the Sethria's Roost area that are yours for the scavenging.  Here is another great scavenging location in Mount Hyjal.

Are you a Tailor or are you after cloth?  Charred Flamewakers have a 29% chance to drop 1-4 Embersilk Cloth (ncludes Tailor's Cloth Scavenging bonus) and Scarred Acolytes have a 47% chance to drop 1-4 Embersilk Cloth.

Are you a Rogue?  Both Charred Flamewakers and Scarred Acolytes can be Pickpocketed for a chance at Flame-Scarred Junkboxes.

Are you after Volatile Fire?  4 mob options have a chance at dropping Volatile Fire.  They are Seething Pyrelords, Brimstone Destroyers, Flame Terrors, and Charred Invaders.

There you have it.  Choose your targets wisely based on your time commitment, which areas you are reqired to be in for the Firelands dailies that are randomly chosen, what Professions you have, and which possible items drops are most beneficial or profitable for you.  Then you can enter the orange portal and complete the Firelands Dailies within the Molten Front and continue unlocking the Druids of The Talon or The Shadow Wardens.

Firelands Dailies: Got My Flameward Hippogryph Mount. Now What?

Flameward Hippogryph - Firelands Dailies Reward

Firelands Dailies Completed

I have finished all of the quests associated with the Firelands Invasion Dailies that were added in WoW Patch 4.2.  I am now the owner of a new mount, the Flameward Hippogryph.  The Flameward Hippogryph is your reward for completing the Cataclysm achievement The Molten Front Offensive.  The Molten Front Offensive achievement requires you to unlock each of the phased vendors and complete all of the quest chains, then you are rewarded with the Flameward Hippogryph mount.  In my opinion this mount is ugly, but it still counts towards the Mountain of Mounts achivement.  So I'm happy with it.  My question is now what do I do?

What To Do Now That Firelands Dailies Are Completed?

Flamebreaker Title
Well, there is the Flamebreaker title that can be earned once you complete the achievement Veteran of the Molten Front.  Many of the achievement requirements will already have been completed once you have finished unlocking all of the vendors and all of the quest phased areas of the Molten Front.  Finishing off the left over achievement requirements will require completing more of the daily quests, which will continue to reward you with Marks of the World Tree.

Zen'Vorka's Cache - Scorched Stone Pet
Continuing on to complete even more Firelands Dailies for the achievements and title will lead to the accumulation of extra Marks of the World Tree.  While these where originally used for unlocked the various quest phases, once everything is unlocked there isn't much use for the extra Marks of the World Tree.  There is a vendor named Zen'Vorka located within the Molten Front that will trade you 1 Zen'Vorka's Cache for 30 Marks of the World Tree.  You can also raise reputations by buying the various Writs of Commendation, which award 250 reputation to a major city, but by this point you probably don't need reputation with your faction's major cities.
Scorched Stone WoW Companion Pet
Inside the Zen'Vorka's Cache you will find a random piece of Cataclysm gear or an Elementium Lockbox with a piece of random Cataclysm gear inside.  If you get lucky, you could also find a Scorched Stone, which awards a companion pet.  This miniature fire elemental vanity pet should serve to remind you of all of the elementals you have to kill while completing all of the beginning Firelands Dailies over and over.

Zen'Vorka's Cache is an option for getting something for all of the extra Marks of the World Tree that you will collect while wrapping up your achievements or farming for your Scorched Stone companion pet.  Outside of those 2 reasons for collecting Marks of the World Tree, I can so no reason to continue farming the Marks of the World Tree just to get more Zen'Vorka's Cache, or as they should be named: Zen'Vorka's Disenchanting Trash.  So don't waste any more time that you have to collecting extra Marks of the World Tree.

What Am I Going To Do?

It's time to break out my crafting alts that haven't unlocked the appropriate vendors so they can start crafting the new epic items and the new bags introduced on the phased Firelands vendors.  My blacksmith is currently on phase 2 of the Firelands Dailies and my bag crafters haven't even started the Firelands daily quests yet.  So I have plenty more elemental slaying, seed planting, mob bombing, spider killing, wound bandaging, bird flying, turtle kicking fun ahead of me.  Oh, joy!

Anyone else sick of these dang Firelands daily quests?  Now watch Blizzard make unlocking all of the Firelands Daily phases a requirement for the next round of incoming content.

The Alt Army Preparation For Patch 4.2 Dailies

Warcraft Patch 4.2 - Are You Ready?

The Regrowth Dailies In Patch 4.2

When Patch 4.2 goes live on the World of Warcraft servers there will be a new set of daily quests with associated reputation that will be added to The Regrowth in Mount Hyjal as a new daily quest hub.  This reputation will be associated with new vendors.  It will be these vendors that will provide you with the new epic patterns for the new epic craftable gear, like the new Patch 4.2 Engineering Recipes.  Wowhead has a great breakdown of all of the new daily quests being added in WoW Patch 4.2.

Many of you may have slacked off on leveling your alts with crafting professions once the Twilight Highlands vendors got nerfed in Patch 4.1.  That Twilight Highlands vendor change brought all of the recipes from those vendors into major cities.  This change allows the current high end craftables to be obtained at level 75 and also removed the requirement of having to start the pre-quests to unlock those vendors only obtainable at level 84.  I did warn earlier that I would not stop leveling as I speculated that those same Twilight Highlands vendors may hold newer recipes in the future.

Preparing For Patch 4.2 Quests and Dailies

There are now 2 main limiting factors for acquiring the new dailies and therefore the new epic crafting patterns.  What are the 2 requirements?
  1. You must quest in Mount Hyjal and complete the quests up to and including Aessina's Miracle.  Check out Sinshroud's post on unlocking the Patch 4.2 dailies for some tips and an add-on to help.
  2. You must obtain level 85 to unlock the new pre-quests to unlock the Hyjal daily quests.  Damnit!  I just learned this today too, when researching the Wowhead article.
So in preparation for the new Firelands content and the new daily quests, I have been making sure all of my crafters have completed up to the Aessina's Miracle quest chain.  Looking deeper today I found the 2nd requirement.  The chain to unlock the dailies starts with a Level 85 required quest.  Doh!  Now I have to level every one of these characters that have lagged behind in level also.  With the talk of Patch 4.2 being released anywhre from 1-4 weeks away, do not waste any more time.  Get all of your crafting characters to level 85 and do the required Hyjal quest chains on the way to 85.

Why?  You don't want to be left behind by more prepared players.  Those of us with characters at level 85 and the quest chain already unlocked are just waiting to start the new quests and dailies.  Once the earned reputation is enough to get the new patterns, the prepared players will be the ones with the first recipes and the first wave of the new BoE epic craftables.  You want to be prepared and ready to go or you will be left behind and miss the opportunity to be the lone seller for the new epics until others catch up. Catch up fast with a Warcraft leveling guide.

So hopefully you took my advice and were continuing to level your crafting alts.  Now to just finish off leveling my last 3 crafters to level 85 and complete the quests up to and including Aessina's Miracle.

How I Am Preparing For Patch 4.2

I haven't been doing too much preparation gold wise for Patch 4.2 as I am busy with leveling my army of alts.  I am sticking to some basic strategies for Patch 4.2 and am really waiting of Patch 4.3 to make a bigger gold push as hopefully thats when epic gems are coming.  Here's what I'm doing currently for Patch 4.2 preparation.
  • Leveling Alts to Level 85.
  • Finishing Aessina's Miracle Chain on Alts.
  • Farming Chaos Orbs in Heroic Dungeons.
  • Truegold Transmutes
  • Dream Cloth Cooldowns
  • Look For Cheap Volatiles
  • Transmuting Inferno Rubies
Don't Wait - Get Started Now!  Patch 4.2 Could Drop On You Early!  Happy Leveling!
