Guide To Booster Pack Gambling For WoW TCG Loot

A Guide To Gambling For World of Warcraft Loot Codes

Reign of Fire Booster Packs

Demand and Loot Code Use As A Blogger or Podcaster

As a World of Warcraft blogger, I learned one thing early on:  Warcraft players love their WoW Trading Card Game Loot!  Many players are willing to buy multiple booster packs and cases of WoW TCG boosters just for a chance to win some loot codes.  More specifically, players are always on the hunt for the super rare and expensive mounts and pets and buying the actual booster packs for a chance at opening a rare is often a more affordable option for many players, since prized treasures like the Spectral Tiger Mount can cost $500 or more.

As a Warcraft blogger, I also learned another key bit of wisdom:  Buying WoW TCG loot cards for giveaways is an incredible efficient way to expand and advertise your blog!  I've often purchased handfuls of WoW TCG pet loot cards to use as contest awards and giveaways.  Whether you are holding a blog birthday celebration, looking for new followers on twitter, need ideas for podcast giveaways, or are building your email newsletter subscriptions, WoW TCG pet codes and WoW TCG vanity codes are super efficient advertising tools to incorporate into your advertising budget.

Many times you can find pet codes for under $5-$10 each on Amazon and I've bought some pet codes for as little as $1.99-$3.99 each.  That $5 investment into a giveaway is super cheap for advertising that actually works to bring you new and returning traffic as well as new subscribers.  And for the big celebrations, giving away WoW TCG Mount cards will really bring the traffic and subscriptions home, if you wish to invest a bit more for those more expensive mount codes.

So if you are a World of Warcraft blogger or podcaster, then I highly recommend grabbing some WoW TCG loot cards to use as giveaways and advertising tools.  It's a great low cost marketing investment idea that actually works.

********************

The 2 Main Types Of WoW TCG Booster Pack Buyers

Some players prefer to gamble for a chance at winning, as opposed to buying the loot cards specifically.  This can be a lot of fun or a headache if you gamble and don't get what you want.  Try to remember that this is a form of gambling, not all booster packs are going to contain loot cards, and it's never cool to leave a horrible review on a booster pack purchase just because you didn't get the loot card you wanted out of your booster packs!  I see it all too often!

WoW TCG Booster Pack Gambling

This guide should help to serve two types of buyers:  The Gambler & The Add-On Shopper.

The Gambler is the Warcraft player that loves to buy the WoW TCG Booster packs and cases of boosters in hopes of pulling an expensive loot card to either use for their own Warcraft characters in game or to have a real life investment item that they seek to flip for a real life profit.  Yes, there are players who buy cases in hopes of finding a rare mount to sell for cash.  When the booster pack cases are on sale and deeply discounted, this tactic has the potential to be very rewarding.

The Add-On Shopper is the Warcraft player who is already shopping on Amazon and buying something for themselves that isn't that expensive.  Amazon has a policy that you get free shipping on many items if your pre-tax shopping total of Amazon purchased items is $35 or greater (current policy and subject to change).  The Add-On Shopper knows about the free shipping requirement of $35, so when his shopping cart totals to just $25, he adds a few unopened WoW TCG booster packs to his order to bump the total to just over $35 to get the free shipping option.  This option is a wise one because instead of throwing away money on shipping alone, you spend a tad bit more and get booster packs and can gamble for a chance to get one of those expensive mounts or pets!  Remember to think like the Add-On Shopper when your next Amazon purchase totals just under the free shipping threshold of $35.

War of the Ancients Booster Packs

Which WoW TCG Booster Packs Contain What Rare Loots?

For those players that are interested in buying their own WoW TCG booster packs, it helps to have a breakdown of what exact loot cards can be found in which booster packs, since there are a ton of already released expansions for the Warcraft trading card game and not all of them contain WoW loot codes.

Rarity is also important to keep in mind.  The rarest of the loot cards will almost always be the mounts within that expansion.  The vanity items and pets will usually be either common or uncommon distribution, but the mounts will almost always be the rarest and hardest to find.  While it is possible to buy just a single booster pack and get a rare mount, it is also very unlikely.  Buying a case of TCG booster packs increases your odds of getting a rare loot card, but still is not a guarantee.  Although buying a sealed booster box is a guarantee that you will receive some loot cards, it doesn't guarantee that you will get a mount card.

Make sure to check the prices between booster packs and cases because some of these sets you can buy a full booster box for under $25!

Hoping To Get A Spectral Tiger Mount Code?

The most common gambled for loot card is the Spectral Tiger and the original packs that they appeared in are both rare and expensive, but you have better options.  If your main goal is to get a Spectral Tiger Mount card and you don't want to buy a Spectral Tiger outright, you actually have 4 options.

The Spectral Tiger Mount Can Be Found In These Options:
  1. Fires of Outland Booster Packs - Original appearance, but rare, hard to find, & expensive.
  2. Wrathgate Expansion Booster Packs - The Spectral Tiger has a chance to appear in Landro's Gift Box.
  3. Archives Expansion Booster Packs - The Archives Expansion was an all foil released set of the most popular WoW TCG loot cards from the previous expansion sets.  A reprint set with another chance to get a Spectral Tiger.
  4. Reign of Fire Expansion Booster Packs - The final expansion ever to be released for the WoW TCG, which includes all previously released loot cards, but with better odds of winning.  This one is a hugely popular set because you have a chance to get any of the loot cards ever made.
  5. Check eBay for WoW TCG Loot Codes

If you've had good luck promoting your site with loot card giveaways or have had some great luck opening booster packs for loot codes, then be sure to share your experiences in the comments!

GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR BOOSTER PACKS!

Reign of Fire God Packs: How Cheaters Prosper & You Lose Out

HOW TO CHERRY PICK GOD PACKS

WoW TCG Reign of Fire God Packs:

How Cheaters Prosper & You Lose Out

The newest WoW Trading Card Game Expansion: Reign of Fire is a huge hit already and has many World of Warcraft players gambling for their chances at the WoW loot card lotto.  Many of the purchasers of the Reign of Fire Booster Packs and Reign of Fire Booster Pack Boxes aren't even players of the WoW TCG.  Since this newest WoW TCG expansion re-issues every single WoW loot card ever previously released, you can see why these new booster packs are so popular and are flying off the shelves everywhere!

Yeah, you read that right.  Every single Vanity Item Card, Mount Loot Card, and Pet Loot Card has a chance to be found in the new Reign of Fire Booster Packs.

Not only can you pull the old loot, but the drop rates have been increased and you also have a chance at the new Reign of Fire God Packs.

Reign of Fire God Packs

A Reign of Fire God Pack is a super rare booster pack that is composed of an entire pack of loot cards!  Yup, you read that right too.  In a Reign of Fire God Pack, every single card in the pack is a loot code, so that means you would get 15 loot cards in one single pack.  Better yet, these God Packs aren't going to follow the same rarity distribution and will be composed of primarily rare loot cards!

So obviously you are going to hope and pray for ones of these super rare God Packs, but unfortunately you don't have a fair chance of pulling a God Pack unless you purchase a sealed box of Reign of Fire booster packs.  Here's why:

Cherry Picking Cheaters

Throughout every trading card game ever created there have been people who try to cheat the system and figure out which packs contain foil cards, loot cards, and special God Packs prior to purchasing any boosters packs.  The WoW TCG is no different and the addition of the God Packs in the Reign of Fire expansion makes it even more of a target for cherry picking cheaters.

"Cherry Picking" is the process of picking out the best packs of any given booster box for yourself, as opposed to just buying packs and hoping to open a good pack.  How is that even possible?

Well, loot cards have a slight weight difference (as slightly heavier) because the loot cards have extra adhesive and the scratch-able strip that covers the loot code itself.  Loot cards also tend to be on slightly thicker and stiffer card stock, which also adds to the slight weight difference.  So it is possible to open a sealed booster box and weigh each pack individually, find the 2-4 packs within that booster box that are slightly heavier, and successfully cherry pick the loot card packs right out of the box.  This is possible with the minute weight difference on the booster packs that contain a single loot card.  Now think about a Reign of Fire God Pack that is all 15 loot cards.  The weight difference is going to be much more noticeable, especially with a digital scale.

So your odds of getting super lucky and pulling a super rare Reign of Fire God Pack are pretty slim and unless you are buying sealed booster boxes, you almost definitely won't be getting a God Pack from a random booster pull.  The local shop owner probably cherry picked the booster boxes before they even went on the shelf and if he didn't, you can bet the employees have.  Same thing with online sales and purchases at the local convenience or general store.  If the employees haven't picked through the packs, a customer with a digital scale may already have searched them as well.

If you want to get on board with the other cheaters and start cherry picking packs yourself, then make sure to grab a pocket digital scale that goes to .01 or .001 accuracy for precision.  You best bet is to hit local non-gaming stores, where the employees and managers are uneducated on how cherry picking rare loot works.  Try places like Target, Walmart or the grocery store because you can almost bet a gaming shop has been cherry picked by either the owner or the staff.

You best bet and best defense against cherry picking of God Packs and loot containing packs is to only buy sealed booster boxes of reign of fire.

Find Precision Pocket Scales on Amazon

Buy Sealed Booster Boxes on Amazon

Search for Reign of Fire Loot Cards on Amazon

So now you know how cheaters can cherry pick booster packs before you even purchase them and you also learned that you can protect yourself against these cherry picking cheaters by buying unopened boxes of Reign of Fire booster packs.

WoW TCG Loot Card Codes - Vanity Items

Disco Inferno! WoW TCG Rare
WoW Loot Card D.I.S.C.O. Ball

WoW Trading Card Game Vanity Item Loot Codes

Having already done posts on both WoW Pet Loot Cards and WoW Mount Loot Cards, it was only natural to follow those WoW Trading Card Game loot posts with the final category of loot cards.  The Vanity Items offered from the WoW Trading Card Game are almost all strictly for aesthetic purposes.  The pets and mounts both are seeing increases in value since they will be usable on all of your WoW characters on your account.  Unfortunately at this time, the WoW TCG Vanity Items are still restricted to the character that redeems the code.  There are plenty of cool gizmos and gadgets that you can use to enhance your character visually.

I myself have had my eye on the D.I.S.C.O. ball, which is the coolest vanity item from the WoW TCG in my opinion.  The Grim Campfire is a pretty neat campfire upgrade as well that allows you to cook over glowing flaming skulls.  Another of my favorites is the Fool's Gold item, which places a fake mining node on the ground.  Anyone who attempts to mine the ore, gets a Kobold that follows them around.  "You No Take Copper!"

So I present this list for you research and your amusement.  Some of these items are rather rare and expensive, while others are only a few bucks.

Finally A Way To Turn Gold Into Dollars?

Savage Raptor WoW TCG Mount Card
Turning Your Gold Into Dollars With TCG Mounts
 Turning Your Gold Into Dollars

The Mists of Pandaria expansion is bringing a lot of changes to what we have grown accustomed to in World of Warcraft.  With these changes we are seeing a complete overhaul to both the pet and mount systems.  These changes are opening the pathways to some new and different avenues of profiting both in and out of the game.

Euripides already wrote about the possibilities of transferring wealth between servers with battle pets.  It's a novel idea, but I have no interest in having gold on multiple servers or playing the markets on multiple servers.  Hell, it's hard enough to maintain both the Horde and Alliance auction houses on my own server, much less having to look for deals on other servers.  So, I won't be participating in trying to move around caged battle pets.  I will however, be very interested in utilizing the changes to the mount system to make real life profits.

Making Money With WoW TCG Mounts

I was chatting on Twitter with a fellow goldmaker, Farli from The Overcut, earlier today after I saw him tweet that he had just snatched up a rare WoW Trading Card Game mount that he is planning on flipping for extra gold once Mists of Pandaria comes out.  Then I had a revelation.  Why sell it for gold, when you can sell it for cash? It's going to be entirely possible with the new changes coming to how the mounts work.

In Mists of Pandaria, all of your mounts will be Account Wide instead of just on the character that learned the mount.  This announcement alone has already led to increased demand and continually increasing prices for all of the WoW TCG Mount Loot Codes.  Similarly, the WoW TCG Pet Loot Codes are also selling quickly and are also seeing the prices increase as they are going account bound in MoP as well.  And when we say Account Bound, it's truely account bound.  Any character, regardless of server, will have access to the same pets and mounts collection that will be accessed through the new Pet & Mount UI tabs.

So obviously this makes purchasing a WoW TCG mount more valuable, since every character of yours will be able to flaunt that mount, even any new characters that you create on any server!

Using WoW TCG mounts to purchase gold in a roundabout way has always been legit.  Blizzard made changes to allow the WoW TCG mounts to create a BoE mount that you can trade on the auction house to prevent getting ripped off.  You can spend money on a loot code, then get the item to sell in game.  The end result is that you paid money for Warcraft gold legally.

Now we will finally be able to turn the tables and turn our hard earned gold into real life money, using this same system in reverse.  The biggest drawback to the mount code change of creating BoE mounts has been that you pretty much needed to find a buyer on your current server.  If you chose to sell the TCG mount to another player, that player either needed to already be on your server, or one of you would face extra charges of transferring a character to deliver the mount.

Well, that will no longer be a limiting factor once the new mount UI is implemented.  Which means you can sell those rare mounts to anyone within your region (Us/Oceanic/EU only) or shop for a rare mount on any server you have gold on.  How so?

Getting Paid For Your Gold Making
  1. Find a WoW TCG Mount on your server, Spectral Tiger as an example.
  2. Buy the Spectral Tiger off AH with gold.
  3. Find a buyer for the Spectral Tiger (eBay, Craigslist, Forums, Blogs, etc)
  4. Buyer makes an Alt on your server.
  5. Show Spectral Tiger to buyer and receive payment from buyer.
  6. Trade Spectral Tiger to buyer.
  7. Buyer learns Spectral Tiger on new alt.
  8. Now all of the buyer's characters can mount the Spectral Tiger, regardless of server.
Note: If you do decide to sell your mounts for real money and use Paypal to complete the sale, be sure to document and screenshot the entire transaction for your safety as Paypal leaves the burden of proof on the seller should an issue arise.  I would have the buyer create the alt on your server first and require that the character's name be included in the payment he sends to help validate screenshots you take of the transaction.

I'm unsure of whether this would technically be allowed or disallowed by the Terms of Service, but it really isn't much different than selling the physical WOW TCG loot cards, except that the code has already been redeemed for the in-game item.  This is safer than blindly buying loot codes from other players that may or may not have already been used.

Why flip for gold when you can flip for cash!?!

WoW TCG Mount Loot Codes

WoW TCG Mount Loot Codes

With the Mists of Pandaria expansion just around the corner, the demand for the WoW Trading Card Game Pet Codes and the WoW Trading Card Game Mount Codes have skyrocketed.  While the pets are going account wide through the new battle pets system, player mounts are also going to become useable account wide.  This is wonderful news when you consider that those hefty priced WoW TCG mounts are going to be able to be used on all of your characters.  Instead of paying $700 for a Swift Spectral Tiger for your main character, each and every character of yours will be able to flaunt that super rare and highly desired mount for all of Azeroth to see.

The prices of the WoW TCG mounts have steadily been on the rise.  The demand is continuing to increase as more and more players learn of the account wide mounts conversion coming in Mists of Pandaria.  Hover over the links below and you will see that some of the prices are already crazy.  Amazon is currently sold out of the most expensive WoW TCG mount card, the Swift Spectral Tiger.  I can't even fathom spending that kind of real life cash on an in game item myself.  If you are looking to obtain some of the WoW TCG mounts, don't hesitate because the prices are climbing and I'm sure they will jump even higher once Mists of Pandaria launches and more players return to the game.

Are You Willing To Gamble?

When hunting for WoW TCG mounts you have 2 options.  You can purchase the mount cards themselves (US/Oceanic and EU realms only) or you can purchase the WoW TCG Booster Packs or Booster Boxes.  Cryptozoic has taken over the production of all the WoW TCG sets and currently many of the older booster packs are on sale, some for as low as $2 per pack!  So it's a great time to clean up on some cheaper WoW TCG booster packs and boxes.  The table above links to the associated booster packs that can contain the specific mounts.

Landro's Gift Box

There is also the gamble of the Landro's Gift Box loot card.  This code will award you with a gift box that when opened will reveal a random TCG item.  The Landro's Gift Box will contain one of the following:
  1. Papa Hummel's Old Fashioned Pet Biscuits (50 Stack)
  2. Sandbox Tiger (50 Stack)
  3. Path of Cenarius (50 Stack)
  4. Riding Turtle
  5. Reins of the Swift Spectral Tiger
  6. Reins of the Spectral Tiger
  7. Big Battle Bear
  8. X-51 Nether Rocket
  9. X-51 Nether Rocket X-treme
Remember the Landro's Gift Box is a gamble, you are not guaranteed to get one of the mounts.  You may be hoping for a Spectral Tiger and get only Pet Biscuits, but if you get lucky, you can get a super expensive mount for a fraction of the cost.

Archives Boosters

The Archives Booster Packs and Archives Booster Boxes are another great way to get some of those classic favorites as this set is a "Best of" from the previous WoW TCG expansions.  This gives you a chance to get some of the most sought after pets and mounts and these packs are dirt cheap!

Archives Boosters can contain:
  1. Spectral Tiger
  2. X-51 Nether Rocket
  3. Riding Turtle
  4. Big Battle Bear
Have fun and gamble safely!

WoW TCG Archives Booster Pack Loot Card Lottery

WoW Trading Card Game (TCG) Loot Cards & Archives Booster Packs

The WoW Trading Card Game has always been an interesting branch of the World of Warcraft product line.  The booster packs for the WoW Trading Card Game have a chance at containing the more rare loot cards.  These loot cards contain a code for an item that can be used in the World of Warcraft game.  These loot cards are fun additions to the game that can include new mounts, new companion pets, and new vanity items, such as tabards or toys.  Many of the rare loot cards are able to be sold for hefty amounts on ebay and other sites as the loot cards are hard to find and without a ton of luck, would require purchasing a bunch of WoW TCG booster packs for a chance at a rare loot card.

Archives Booster Pack Box Sale

Recently, I spoke with Elvine on Twitter regarding the Archives expansion pack booster boxes on sale from Amazon.  We discussed the loot card distribution and the odds of making a profit by buying the sale priced boxes and selling the loot cards.  Elvine had already order a set of 4 of the WoW TCG Archives expansion booster boxes.  He granted me permission to use his experience and results in a blog post, as I found the notion rather interesting and thought that you might too.

The WoW TCG Archives Expansion

The Archives expansion for the WoW Trading Card Game is a special release that also includes some of the popular loot cards.  By design, the Archives expansion is a 190 card set of reprinted cards from the "best of" the first 3 years of the WoW TCG, but done in all foil.  The set contains some valuable and popular loot cards.  Each pack has a chance to contain loot cards, but the really lucky may get one of the 4 rare mounts:
  1. Spectral Tiger
  2. X-51 Nether Rocket
  3. Riding Turtle
  4. Big Battle Bear
Uncommon loot card possibilities include:
  1. Robotic Homing Chicken (Rocket Chicken Companion Pet)
  2. Banana Charm (Monkey Companion Pet)
  3. D.I.S.C.O.
  4. Fishing Chair
Common loot card options include:
  1. Paper Flying Machine
  2. Tabard Of The Flame
  3. Papa Hummell's Pet Biscuit
  4. Sandbox Tiger
The Archives booster boxes contain 24 of the 10 card booster packs and each booster pack contains 9 game cards and 1 crafting OR loot card. So for $39.95 you have 24 chances at pulling loot cards.  The notion perked my interest, so I dug a little deeper to try and find out the distribution pattern for the loot cards.  As per the FAQ on WoW TCG Loot Cards, the current loot card distribution (for sets after the March of the Legion expansion) is as follows:
  • Commons - 20 to 21 per case, at least 1 per expansion box.
  • Uncommons - 2 per case, or 1 in 6 expansion boxes, some rare cases have 1, where other rare cases have 3.
  • Rares - 1 per case, or 1 in 12 expansion boxes, some rare cases have none, while other rare cases have 2.
The important thing to realize and not get overly excited about guaranteed rare loot cards is that when dealing with TCG boosters you are looking at 3 main product packages.  There are Booster Packs, Booster Boxes, and Cases.
  • Booster Pack - 10 card pack, contains 9 cards and 1 crafting or loot card.
  • Booster Box - 24 booster packs are in 1 booster box.
  • Case - 12 booster boxes make up 1 full sealed case.
Looking at the odds and loot card distribution show that even if you buy an unopened full sealed case, you aren't guaranteed to get a rare mount loot card.  There is so much randomness built into the loot card distribution that it is still a gamble, even at the reduced sale prices.

Elvine's Loot Card Results From 4 Archives TCG Booster Boxes

Elvine purchased 4 sealed booster boxes, which is a total of 96 booster packs.  The packs were opened live on Elvine's Twitch livestreaming channel.  Here are the loot card results from the 96 packs.
  • Box #1
    • 1 Tabard of the Flame (Landro Longshot)
    • 2 Paper Airplane
  • Box #2
    • 2 Pet Biscuits (Papa Hummel's Old Fashioned Pet Biscuits)
    • 1 Riding Turtle (Saltwater Snapjaw)
    • 1 Banana Charm - Monkey Pet (King Mukla)
    • 4 Sandbox Tigers
  • Box #3
    • 1 Sandbox Tiger
  • Box #4
    • 1 Tabard of the Flame
The results are a bit crazy and just go to show that the TCG loot card distribution is almost completely random.  13 Loot cards total and 8 of them, including the sole rare and sole uncommon, all coming out of the same sealed booster box. Boxes 1, 3, & 4 are complete duds, where as, box 2 is the only one with loot cards worth more than the purchase price of the booster box.  So think twice before rushing off to buy some sealed Archives booster boxes in hopes of making money selling the loot cards you find.  Odds are you won't be able to open enough loot cards to make it worth your investment unless you get lucky and obtain one of the boxes that hold the rare mount loot cards.

Even Cheaper Archives Booster Packs

If you are still interested in trying your shot at the WoW TCG Loot card lottery, consider Amazon for single booster packs.  Amazon currently has single Archives booster packs for only $1.25 each, which is cheaper than the sealed box sale price.  You lose the benefit of having a sealed booster box, but as shown above, there is no guaranteed distribution from buying a sealed box or case.  So next time you are on amazon and need a few more dollars to reach the minimum purchase total for free shipping, consider tossing in a few WoW TCG Archives booster packs.  You may just get lucky and find yourself a super rare loot card mount.
