Top Blog Posts, News & Podcasts From October

Top Blog Posts, Podcasts, & Links From October 2012

October continued on as another great month here at Cold's Gold Factory, with plenty of the fresh Mists of Pandaria traffic continuing to pour in.  Readers, you can always send in questions to me directly or you can leave your WoW gold making questions over on the /Goblinism subreddit.

October's WoW Gold Blogging Carnival was a great one that focused on our MoP Launch Strategies and Results.  This was a great series to see the various plans of multiple gold makers and just how they turned out posts Mists of Pandaria's launch.  Be sure to check out those carnival entries and you may get a few ideas for making gold in WoW that you aren't already working on.

Podcast News From October

Auction House Junkies

The Auction House Junkies podcast is done.  Yup. We've officially called it quits instead of limping out a show here and there.  The previous shows are still available and are still worth a listen for new listeners, but there are no plans to release new episodes at this time.  The show won't be resurrected in the future, without the help of a financial sponsor.  I'd love to continue on with the podcast, but I can't afford to carry the finacial burden, nor do I have time for editing it in addition to my own podcast segment, so it's dead at this point.

The Eviscerated Gaming Podcast

With the collapse of AHJ, we've rolled gold making segments into the new mostly WoW format of The Eviscerated Gaming Podcast.  We've been bringing some good discussion and content that relates to the World of Warcraft economy and WoW gold making as a regular part of every show, so don't miss it!

We've had some pretty awesome, funny, and crazy episodes lately, as well as our first ever guest on the show (Episodes #25).  Here's the latest episodes from October:
  1. The Eviscerated Gaming Podcast #21 - "Bubbles The Orc"
  2. The Eviscerated Gaming Podcast #22 - "Progressive Heaven" (Musical Week while we took a break from the show)
  3. The Eviscerated Gaming Podcast #23 - "Zumba Scouts"
  4. The Eviscerated Gaming Podcast #24 - "Crazy Bacon"

Gifts For Gamers Additions

The Gifts For Gamers column on Saturdays has been going great and I've been having a blast sharing some of the cool stuff I've found.  Be sure to check out the older entries and look out for some great ones still to come!  Here are the ones from October:

  1. Gifts For Gamers - War of the Ancients WoW TCG Loot
  2. Gifts For Gamers - 14" Poseable Plush Sinister Squashling
  3. Gifts For Gamers - "Ready Player One" by Ernest Cline
  4. Gifts For Gamers - Top 15 Gamer Friendly Movies From My Childhood

Top Cold's Gold Factory Blog Posts From October
  1. Tillers Union Daily Quests & Mats - Easy Gold Making - Shopping lists for dailies grinds and what you should be tilling & selling.
  2. Spirit of Harmony Equivalent Crafting Values aka Kobolds Are Bad At Math
  3. Ghost Iron Dragonling & The New Cogwheels (Tinker's Gear) - Cogwheels are selling for crazy profit still on my server.
  4. Greenstone Quarry - Ghost Iron Ore Farming - My favorite spot for Ghost Iron farming.
  5. Restored Artifacts, Brann Bronzebeard, & Easier Vial Of Sands - It's so much easier to grind the damn Vial recipe now.

Goldgrub's Goblin Academy

In addition to the posts here, we are trying to get Goldgrub's Goblin Academy off of life support and back kicking out more posts.  Here is a great pair of posts from Goldgrubs.com.
  1. Farming Meats For MoP Cooking - Easy reference with links to top MoP meat farming spots.  Thanks Nev!
  2. Gold Making Tips On Low Pop WoW Servers - A great guest post submitted from a first time writer.  Stop by and leave him some feedback.

As always, thanks for reading and checking out the podcast episodes!

Top Posts, News, & Podcasts Info From September

Top Blog Posts, News, & Podcasts From September 2012

September was another great month here at Cold's Gold Factory with a nice flood of new traffic coming as players returned for Mists of Pandaria.  Remember, you can always send in questions to me directly or you can leave your WoW gold making questions over on the new /Goblinism subreddit

In September, we ran the Gold Blogging Carnival on the Remote Auction House to compare different WoW gold making strategies, tips, and trips for using the now free remote auction house.  Be sure to check out those 8 carnival posts from multiple authors, especially since the remote auction house access is now available to everyone.

Last month, I also released the new blog posting schedule for Cold's Gold Factory, which has already gone into effect.  The weekly column Gifts For Gamers is now also underway and the entries can be seen here on the site every Saturday.

Grand Old Podcast - History Of WoW Podcasters

I was featured on Sayo's Grand Old Podcast - History of WoW Podcasters.  This interview was a lot of fun and we had a nice long discussion of a ton of topics including WoW gaming, blogging, and podcasting.  I got some very nice feedback about the interview and someone even said it was "very inspiring".  Ah, warm and fuzzies.  Make sure to check it out and check out the other great interviews from Sayomara.

We continue to pump out the episodes on The Eviscerated Gaming Podcast.  We have a lot of fun recording this show to be both entertaining, helpful, and informative.  So be sure to check it out on iTunes or Stitcher Radio.  If you like the show, then make sure to drop a review on iTunes.  Those reviews help us to pull in new listeners, which can lead to more interaction and better show discussions.

Blog Schedule, Columns, And New Stuff!

Fall 2012 Blog Posting Schedule At Cold's Gold Factory

Now that the new WoW expansion, Mists of Pandaria, is right around the corner I've decided to create and stick to a much more structured posting schedule here at Cold's Gold Factory.  I admit, I was slacking for a while there during the end of the expansion slump, but I've been pumping out high quality articles more often now.  I want to continue with a more rigid posting schedule and get better at supporting both of the podcasts that I am lucky to be a part of, as well as try some new things here on the blog.  The Gold Blogging Carnivals will continue to take place on the 11th of each month as already established.
Here's a look at the new blog posting schedule for Cold's Gold Factory:

Mondays / Wednesdays / Fridays - WoW Gold Making Articles will be posted a minimum of 3 times per week, with extra posts possible on Sundays (if I have something that can't wait) and possibly on non-AHJ Thursdays.

Tuesdays - The Eviscerated Gaming Podcast records weekly and will have the show notes, links, and discussion hosted here on Tuesdays.  This will help drive new listeners to the podcast, as well as provide links to topics we discuss on the show.  The EGP has been evolving quite nicely and with Mists just around the corner, we will be digging even deeper into WoW content on the show.  Episode #18 "Blue Oyster Bar" is currently up and available on iTunes and Stitcher.

Thursdays - The Auction House Junkies Podcast should hopefully be recording more regularly with the launch of Mists of Pandaria.  Thursdays will be dedicated to hosting the show notes and discussion links for the current episodes of our WoW Gold Making Podcast.  If there is not a new show for the week, then Thursdays will be available for an extra WoW gold making post, Gold Blogging Carnival Topic Announcements, or will be an overflow day for anything displaced by the monthly Blogging Carnival Post (should the 11th fall on a day where something else is normally scheduled).

Saturdays - Saturdays will be for a new column that I will be testing out called "Gifts for Gamers".  Saturdays tend to be the slowest traffic day here on the blog, so I'm going to experiment with a new column designed to increase monetization options for my blog.  Amazon affiliates sales have quickly moved into a nice monetization source after the 3 posts I did on WoW Trading Card Game Loot Codes.

The goblin in me sees the full potential of dedicating a weekly column to "Gifts for Gamers", especially with the holiday season approaching.  I won't be reviewing garbage items just as a way to get sales.  I will only be reviewing, recommending, and discussing items that I either own myself, want to purchase myself, or I think are just too damn cool not to share with my readers.  I spend a lot of time hunting for cool gaming related stuff online, so this weekly column will be a nice avenue to share that information with you guys as well as allow me to build a little more traffic and page rank to my Squidoo posts on similar topics.

In addition, this column will help me turn those content stealing, automatic article copying bots and scammers from rip-off artists into fools that will be working for me instead of against me.

Any purchases through my Amazon or Jinx links are always highly appreciated.  I prefer to recommend stuff that I enjoy or find pretty cool myself.  If you have found a kick ass gaming item, game, or gaming peripheral or accessory you can send it in as a recommendation and I will mention you in the post.

If you aren't interested in finding out about cool gaming stuff, then just come back after the weekend is over for more WoW gold making goodness.

Sundays - Sundays will be an off day, overflow day, or Carnival day (if on the 11th).

Grand Old Podcast - History Of Warcraft Podcasting

Sayomara of The Grand Old Podcast is most well known for his World of Warcraft lore inspired podcast and lore infused segments he has produced for other WoW podcasts.  He also has been running special episodes under the History of Warcraft Podcasting name, which are interview and discussion sessions with notable podcasters from around the various World of Warcraft podcasts.

Sayo was nice enough to invite me on as a special guest on Episode #62 of The Grand Old Podcast - "Interview With Cold", which is available on iTunes and Stitcher Radio, or you can listen directly from the podcast site here:

http://grandoldpodcast.blogspot.com/2012/09/episode-62-interview-with-cold-of.html

This nearly 2 hour long interview was a blast and I had a great time with Sayo, who is an excellent interviewer in my opinion.  We take a walk down the old days of Vanilla WoW, talk about blogging & podcasting, Auction House Junkies, The Eviscerated Gaming Podcast, pet battles, twinking, making gold in Warcraft, and a whole bunch of throwing Wes under the bus.

I hope you enjoy the interview.  It was a lot of fun to participate with Sayo and his History of Warcraft Podcasting.

Enjoy!

New Bloggers & New Projects Around The Community

New Projects And Fresh WoW Gold Bloggers

The WoW gold blogging community is starting to see the addition of new fresh blogs popping up.  Adding fresh writers with new ideas is always a great way to expand on the topics of making gold in World of Warcraft.  New bloggers are always welcome and appreciated, but the sad fact is that most new blogs don't make it past a few months once they realize just how hard it is to engage an audience with quality content time and time again.  Sometimes a break or a slower posting schedule can keep a blog from going under.  Hell, I've even had my troubles for a few months during the latest lull, but I'm back on track trying to regularly post out 3-4 articles a week.

As a reader, one of the most important things you can do to help keep a blog alive and a new blogger engaged is to leave comments on their site.  This helps encourage the blogger that someone is actually reading their posts and helps motivate them to continue writing.  Have you thanked a blogger lately?

New & Returning WoW Gold Bloggers

Some dormant blogs have been reactivated, some have started new projects, and there are brand new blogs out there to read.  Here is a handful of some of the recent notables.

Two New Reddit Communities

/Goblinism - Created by Me.  Find collections of WoW gold making blog posts and discussions from some of the best World of Warcraft gold bloggers.  This is a great place to drop any specific questions you may have regarding making gold in WoW.

/Wowpodcasts - Created by Rewt from Hearthcast.  Here you can find recent podcast episodes on all sorts of Warcraft topics.

Be sure to stay tuned for more weekly episodes of The Eviscerated Gaming Podcast, more Auction House Junkies livestreams, and more appearances on the weekly Gold Blogger On Air Hangouts.

Top Blog Posts From July 2012

Top Blog Posts, News, & Podcasts From July 2012

I've started to turn back to more of a regular posting schedule here at Cold's Gold Factory, in preparation for Mists of Pandaria, the next WoW expansion.  After losing the majority of interest in that whack ass Diablo 3, I'm back playing and experimenting within the time stood favorite, World of Warcraft.  I have been very pleased with the quality of posts that I've been writing lately and look forward to spreading more gold making goodness in regards to getting ready for the next expansion.  I've started up my bank and guild bank cleaning projects and have resumed stockpiling for Mists of Pandaria.

In July, We ran the Cold's Gold Blogging Carnival featuring Gold Maker Recommendations For The Expansion Lull to help provide insight as to what you can be doing now at the end of the expansion to prepare for the next one.  The topic for the August CGF Blogging Carnival was also announced, where we will compare different posting strategies of seperate markets.

Podcast News For July

Auction House Junkies

The big news is that Auction House Junkies is back putting out WoW gold making podcasts.  We've already released 2 new episodes and we are busy researching for more episodes to come out in the near future.

Be sure to check out:

The Eviscerated Gaming Podcast

The Eviscerated Gaming Podcast continues pumping out episodes on a weekly basis (minus the week we lost an episode and R9z's computer, but we hope to get that episode off the hard drive once the pc is fixed and healthy again.)  The shift in content has swung back towards World of Warcraft as we are getting sick of Diablo 3 and Mists of Pandaria is less than 2 months away.

Be sure to check out:
As always, if you enjoy the podcasts, be sure to stop by iTunes and leave us a review or give us a thumbs up on Stitcher Radio.

Top Blog Posts Here At Cold's Gold Factory In July

Top 5 posts of July here at Cold's Gold Factory were:

  1. Source List Of All Companion Pets Turning To Rare Battle Pets - Find out what pets are going to be rare battle pets and find out how you can obtain them, as well as which ones are no longer obtainable.
  2. Dump Your Holiday Pets Now! - This post warns and explains why you shouldn't hang on to those holiday pets you've been stockpiling for Mists of Pandaria.
  3. Why Buy Low, Sell Normal Is A Joke - Don't be fooled by internet salesmen sensationalism.  Buy low, sell normal is laughable and is only worth practicing if you want to limit your profits.
  4. Guide To WoW TCG Pet Codes & Loot Cards - A breakdown of what pets come from which loot codes as well as what TCG expansion these codes are from, in case you feel like gambling.
  5. Battle Pets Podcast With Alludra & Kephas - Here I introduce a great new podcast that I have been enjoying that focuses on the upcoming Battle Pets System.
If you haven't checked out these popular posts, then have a look.  I'm sure you will find plenty of useful information within them.  As always, thanks for reading!

Battle Pets With Alludra and Kephas | A Battle Pets Podcast

WoW Battle Pets Podcast
Calico Cat Crits For 2k Damage!
Battle Pets with Alludra and Kephas

Looking for a podcast about World of Warcraft battle pets?  Well look no further!  Alludra and Kephas have got you covered.  They have created an excellent podcast covering the battle pets niche within World of Warcraft.  Be sure to check out Battle Pets With Alludra and Kephas.  Their brand new World of Warcraft podcast is both entertaining and informative.

Alludra and Kephas do a great job explaining the battle pet system coming to WoW in Mists of Pandaria.  Both of the show's hosts are previous Pokemon fans and they are both currently playing with their battle pets within the MoP Beta, which allows them to bring an insider's perspective to the podcast.   Both Alludra and Kephas are members of the Horde faction, but fear not.  The Kephas has authorized Alliance players to listen to the show too!

Kephas and Alludra work well together as a hosting pair.  It is easy to hear their excitement for the battle pets coming through the podcast.  I learned more from their 30 minute debut episode than I've learned reading all about the battle pet system.  I hope there are many more future episodes to come!

In the debut episode they cover:
  • Battle Pet Training
  • Pet Battle Mechanics
  • Battle Pet Bugs On Beta
  • Pet Capturing
  • Battle Pet Qualities
  • Death by Cockroach
  • Much More!
Where can you find the Battle Pets Podcast?

Check out the show notes and stream for episode #1:  Beta Battles.
If you check out their show and enjoy it, be sure to leave them feedback on the site and drop them an iTunes review.  Quality feedback is important for new podcasters, because its hard to gauge listener reactions without feedback.  So be sure to let them know what you think and let them know I sent you to their show.

Auction House Junkies Is Back!

The Auction House Junkies - WoW Gold Making Podcast

The Auction House Junkies World of Warcraft Gold Making Podcast is back up and running.  After a few months break, we have resurrected the podcast and will be putting out more episodes again.  There is already a brand new episode up on the Auction House Junkies site and as always, we are still available on iTunes.

Don't miss out on AHJ Episode #29 - "Where Were You Guys Last Week?"

For the new readers and newer WoW players who haven't heard of our WoW gold making podcast, The Auction House Junkies podcast is all about making gold in World of Warcraft.  Wes, Mike, and I discuss various methods, strategies, and markets for making gold in WoW.  We cover all professions and pretty much all markets get discussed in one episode or another.  We help you with new expansion stockpiling, battling your competition, provide our "Markets of the Week", and we will continually have you thinking on your toes about making gold in WoW.

Since the beginning of the show, we have always strived to be an informative, yet entertaining podcast.  If you like the show and we've helped you make more gold in WoW, then please leave us a review on iTunes.

Auction House Junkies Episode #29

In this episode we get back on track with discussin making gold in WoW and hit on the following topics and many others.

  1. Nev's breast cancer care fund raising campaign.  We've donated, have you?
  2. Black Market Auction House
  3. Mist of Pandaria Beta
  4. Account Wide Pets & Mounts
  5. Remote Auction House Bugs
  6. Inscription Changes to Head & Shoulder Enchants
  7. Thrown Weapons Removal - GEE and Illusion Dust
  8. Cooking Profession Changes
  9. Flipping Guilds For Big Profits
  10. Much Much More
New To Auction House Junkies?

If you haven't heard any of the podcast episodes before, be sure to check us out.  The great thing about our shows is that the majority of the topics and content discussed can be applied to multiple auction house markets regardless of when the episodes originally came out.  So you can go back and listen to the older episodes and still come away with new ideas on making gold in WoW.  Currently we are a 3 host show, but originally it was just Wes and I.  So don't be shocked if you don't hear Mike in the earlier episodes.  He joined Wes and I around episode 16 or 17.

JMTC Weekly Meeting Appearance

JMTC Weekly Meeting

Mageshadow and the gang host a weekly meeting every Friday night on Teamspeak 3. I have been unable to make previous meetings partly from real life and partly from stupidity. I finally realized why I couldn't get the install to work properly. I was trying to install the Win64 download for a Win32 system. Oops!
Anyways, I was in attendance at this week's meeting. I highly recommend listening to the recordings as there are some great tips, ideas, and discussions mentioned each week. It isn't a podcast, but is more of a round table discussion where questions are asked or topics are given and then they are freely discussed by various knowledgable gold makers.

Here's the link if you want to check out the latest meeting (episode #16).

We discussed all sorts of topics including glyphs, books of glyph mastery, fortune cards, ore and herb prices, professions, and tons of other great gold making ideas and strategies!

Join the Blogroll & Podcast Links

Spring Cleaning

I have deleted 12 or more blogs from my blogroll that had not posted in a week or longer.  Some hadn't posted in 3 months.  I like to keep links only to blogs that are current and are providing fresh content at least once per week.  Blogging is a revolving door.  Many start, but few continue on past a few months before giving up after they realize how much hard work it is to post quality content on a consistent basis.

New Additions

Anyone who has a new site that writes frequently (at least once a week) can contact me to be added to the blogroll.

I have also added a Podcast List after the blogroll.  Anyone with a WoW related podcast who links to the Auction House Junkies homepage at AuctionHouseJunkies.com can contact me to be added to the Podcast List.

Consortium Contest

The Consortium Forums are hosting a new contest.  If you are interested, follow this link for the details and prizes.

Thanks for coming to my site and reading my blog. And thanks for all of the positive feedback I receive for the blog as well as the podcast.  I think I have some of the best readers and comments across the whole World of Warcraft gold blogging community.
