Darkmoon Fair Gold Making Guides

The Darkmoon Faire

The week of the Darkmoon Faire is a great time to make gold.  Both fledgling and veteran players have some opportunities to make gold once the fair rolls into town.  The Darkmoon Faire is only available for one week out of each month.  The Darkmoon Faire location alternates between 3 sites:  Mulgore (outside Thunder Bluff), Goldshire, and Shattarath (In Terrokkar Forest).

The Darkmoon Faire will be returning this Monday, so if you are bored or ar looking for something new to try, why not try to make some gold with the Darkmoon Faire?  There are many ways to profit from the Darkmoon Faire.

Guides To Gold Making At The Fair

Flipping Flik's Faire Frogs - This is a handy guide to making gold off of the little green goblin Flik.  Flik runs around the fair and sells 2 different kinds of fair frog companion pets.  Both of these fair frogs can sell for tons over what you pay for them, especially if you sell them while the fair is not around Azeroth.

Selling Jubling Pets - Profitting from Dark Iron Ale Mugs just takes a little bit of barking and teaching your customers how to obtain the Jubling companion pet from the Darkmoon Faire.  This may be more profitable after Patch 4.1 is released and we see the spike in demand for companion pets.

The Dense Stone Shuffle - Did you know you can shuffle Dense Stones into Dense Grinding Stones to use as Darkmoon Fair turn-ins for Tickets?  You can trade those tickets in for various Darkmoon Faire prizes in hopes of getting a rare blue item or a rare crafting profession recipe.  This is an easy market to enter as you're usually going to see a nice return on your investment.  Just don't pay too much for your Dense Stones (I like to pay 2g or less per stack of Dense Stone.)

Lhara - This great Darkmoon Faire vendor sells goods for dirt cheap.  Be prepared to see someone already camping her.

Darkmoon Faire Decks - Scribes can use their Inscription Profession to craft Darkmoon Fair Cards and turn them into Darkmoon Faire Decks to either sell or turn into the Darkmoon Faire to get the corrosponding trinkets.  During the fair is a great time to sell any materials required to craft these cards as the prices always spike during Faire week.

Wes and I talked about all of these strategies in detail on Episode #5 of Auction House Junkies, if you would like to learn even more about the Darkmoon Fair.

Anyone have any other gold making methods for the Darkmoon Faire?

Get Stoned At The Darkmoon Faire

Gelvas Grimegate
Darkmoon Faire Ticket Redemption

Each week that the Darkmoon Faire is visiting Azeroth is another chance to gamble on some random number generated goodies.  The Darkmoon Faire Prize Tickets that are awarded from completing any of the Darkmoon Faire repeatable quests can be turned in to the Ticket Redeeming npc, Gelvas Grimegate.

Duck originally posted about the best way to gain Darkmoon Faire Prize Tickets over at the Consortium Forums.  Dense Stones are dirt cheap on most servers and can usually be purchased in large quantities.  I buy any stacks of Dense Stone that I can find under 1 gold per stack.  You can gather these Dense Stones all month long in preparation for when the Darkmoon Faire arrives.

Use a blacksmith to craft Dense Grinding Stones and turn them in for the repeatable quest within the Darkmoon Faire grounds.  The quest Rituals of Strength awards 20 Darkmoon Faire Prize Tickets for turning in 8 Dense Grinding Stones.  Anyone can turn these grinding stones in, you don't have to be a blacksmith to complete the quest.  By gathering dense stones and converting them to dense grinding stones for ticket turn-ins, you have yourself a very easy and cheap way to get a lot of the Darkmoon Faire Prizes.

Darkmoon Faire Prizes

Here is where you get to gamble against the random number generator.  Each of these Darkmoon Faire Prizes  has a chance to gain some green gear, rarer blue gear, contains like Traveler's Backpacks and Knapsacks, common, uncommon, and rare recipes.  You can even be awarded some of the super rare blue recipes like the Pattern: Rich Purple Silk Shirt or Plans: Mithril Shield Spike.

Regardless of what prizes you get, you will make gold on your investment.  Some of the greens you get will be nice enough to sell to leveling characters and the junk greens can be disenchanted.  Those enchanting materials can be sold raw or processed further into finished goods.  Since you will be disenchanting a lot of these items, I highly recommend using your Enchanter as the character to turn in the Dense Grinding Stones for the Prizes.  This will save you some time.  Another time saving option is to use an engineer, who can plop down a Moll-E mailbox to gather the Dense Grinding Stones from the mailbox as well as mail off items to other auction house alts or your enchanter.

Parting Thoughts

This is always going to be profitable, if you are buying the dense stones for cheap.  Just save your stones up and do a mass crafting of the grinding stones at the end of your play session.  This way you don't lose playtime crafting the hundreds of Dense Grinding Stones.  I have got many nice items to sell on the Auction House all from just buying Dense Stones, converting them to Dense Grinding Stones, gathering tickets, and getting prizes from Gelvas Grimgate.  It really is a sure fire way to make some easy gold.  Just make sure you know what your recipes are truly worth before you post them at the wrong price.  You should also be on the watch for underpriced recipes during the Darkmoon Faire Week from others that are trying this strategy, but posting their rare blue recipes for far less than they are worth.

And be sure to stop and check what Lhara has for sale while you are at the Darkmoon Faire.

Profiting from Dark Iron Ale Mugs

Beer Drinking Frog?
Getting Started
Brewfest has started in Azeroth.  While you are in The Grim Guzzler be sure to pick up some stacks of Dark Iron Ale Mugs from Plugger Spazzring.  You can steal some mugs off of his table or you can buy all he has for sale, then kill him, and steal the rest off of his table.  Now just save them for when the Darkmoon Faire comes to town to make some extra cash.

How To Get The Pet
Amongst the carnies at the Darkmoon Faire is Morja, a female orc, that has lost her pet jubling.  Bring a pair of Dark Iron Ale Mugs with you to the faire, if you want to get the vanity pet, Jubling.  All you do to get the jubling from her is drop one of your mugs at her feet.  The beer drinking frog, Jubjub, will come to drink the mug of ale.  She will thank you and reward you with the quest, Spawn of Jubjub.  Apparently, drinking beer makes Jubjub have babies.  Complete the quest by giving her a 2nd mug of ale and she will reward you with an Unhatched Jubling Egg.  This egg takes 7 days to hatch.  After the egg hatches, open it up and collect your new vanity pet jubling.

Profiting On Jublings
During the Darkmoon Faire, make sure to post Dark Iron Ale Mugs on the auction house for 5-10g for a stack of 2.  It also helps to advertise in trade chat that you are selling the vanity pet jubling for 10g.  You will probably have to explain the process to any buyers.  Set up a macro for advertising and a macro with the instructions on obtaining the pet.  This will make it much easier on you both.  Enjoy your sales on the beer guzzling, alcoholic aphrodisiac, egg laying, red and blue frogs.

Flipping Flik's Faire Frogs

Flik - Slow Down Boy!

Flipping Flik's Faire Frogs

The Darkmoon Faire comes to town for one week every month and rotates locations between Elwynn Forest, Mulgore, and Terrokar Forest.  Many item collectors will reward you with faire tickets.  There is also a fortune teller which will give you a 2 hour buff based on how you answer his questions.  You might be able to get some excellent deals from Lhara or purchase some unique treats and drinks from the other vendors at the faire.  One of my favorite vendors that travels with the Darkmoone Faire is a little goblin boy named Flik.

Flik is sometimes hard to catch as he is constantly in motion.  He runs all around the faire grounds chasing his pet frog.  If you are able to catch up with him and stop him for a moment, you will be able to buy a couple of vanity pets from him.  You must not be slow, as he will take off running after his frog within no time.

What He Sells
Flik sells Tree Frog Boxes and Wood Frog Boxes for 1g each.  The Tree Frogs are always in supply, thus allowing you to purchase as many as you can carry.  The Wood Frog Boxes are a limited quantity item and you can only purchase one at a time until more respawn into his item list.  If someone has recently bought the Wood Frog Box, then you will have to wait until another spawns before you can purchase one yourself.

Profiting Off Of Flick's Frogs
I like to camp out and buy as many frogs as I can, because he is only available for 1 week per month.  These frogs will sell very well during the weeks that the faire is gone.  Many people do not know about Flik and his frogs and will buy these pets off of any of the auction houses netting me a nice profit.  I have found that listing the Tree Frog Boxes at 25-35g each and the Wood Frog Boxes for 100-125g each will bring me continous sales.  The Wood Frog Boxes do fetch this high of an amount due to the limited quantity available.  As you can see turning 1g into 25g or even 125g are both very nice profit margins for not much work.  So next time the Darkmoone Faire is in town be sure to say "Hi" to my little friend and do some frog flippin' of your own.

Lhara

Previously I said camp a node while running randoms to get a quick hit between queues. Don't forget about Lhara at the darkmoon faire. Camp at her tent and grab some deals between runs as she sells herbs, leathers, BOEs, motes & crystals at stupid prices, 10g Arctic Fur stupid. So give Lhara some love too. Lhara's Goods
