Tillers Union Cooking Quests & Dailies - Easy Gold Making

Tillers Union Daily Quests WoW
Goblin Farmer
Tillers Union Cooking Quests & Tillers Union Dailies:

Easy WoW Gold Making

The Tillers Union series of quests and daily quests offer plenty of gold making opportunities.  We can supply the items needed for the various Tillers Union quests as well as the cooking materials needed for the Tillers Union daily friendship quests.  It is entirely possible to use your mob killing skills, farming skills, and fishing skills to gather all of your own materials to complete both the starting quests and the daily quests with the Tillers Union.  Due to the sheer volume of items required on a daily basis, it is worth selling these various items on the auction house to those that either don't have the time or don't want to bother farming the items themselves.  And a player that has multiple alts working on these same daily quests is really going to be interested in just purchasing some of these items straight away.  Let's take a look at what all items are required for these Tillers Union quests and Tillers Union daily quests.

Cooking Specializations

The first round of quests for the Tillers Union is what unlocks the various Cooking specializations.  Unlike other profession specializations, the Cooking specializations can all be learned by the same character.  Unfortunately, anyone who previously told you to level your multiple alts' cooking skills to max to be ready to cover each of the Cooking specializations coming in Mists of Pandaria told you wrong.  A single character can unlock all of the Cooking specializations and the various Cooking recipes associated with each.

Tillers Union Cooking Quest Chains

The first round of Tillers Union Cooking quests will teach you the various Cooking specialities, will give you a follow-up quest, and will get you started on the way to unlocking the Tillers Union daily Cooking quests.  The daily quests are not available until level 90, but the initial rounds are available at Cooking skill level 530 and can be completed ahead of time.  Not all players will have a farm running and they may not be able to harvest their own crops yet when they try to complete these quests initially.  They also may not want to fish at all themselves and may be more willing to buy the fished materials for completing these quests.

The Initial Round of Tillers Union Quests

The quests are avialable from the various Tillers Union farmers in the Halfhill Market in the Valley of the Four Winds.  Here is a list of the first 6 starting quests and what materials are required.
  • Way of the Wok - 5 Juicycrunch Carrots
  • Way of the Steamer - 5 Giant Mantis Shrimp
  • Way of the Pot - 5 Jade Lungfish
  • Way of the Oven - 5 Wildfowl Breast
  • Way of the Grill - 5 Raw Tiger Steak
  • Way of the Brew - 1 Ginseng
Each of the require materials are currently easy sells on the auction house, excpet the Ginseng.  On my server these materials are selling between 5 gold each (Wildfowl Breast) and 60 gold each (Jade Lungfish).

Ginseng can be purchased for a little over 3 gold right near the quest giver, so I don't recommend selling those.

Juicy Crunch Carrots are available from some vermin-type mobs, can be planted and harvested in your own farm, or can be purchased (1 Ironpaw Token for a Sack of Juicycrunch Carrots, which gives 25 Carrots).

Giant Mantis Shrimp are fished up from pools or along the coasts of the Krasarang Wilds.

Jade Lungfish are fished up from fishing pools or in the lakes and rivers of the Jade Forest.  You can also buy a Sack of Jade Lungfish for 1 Ironpaw Token.

Wildfowl Breast are drops from bird-type creatures in Pandarian zones.

Raw Tiger Steak are drops from killing some cat-type beasts, like Tigers and Prowlers.

Master Shopping List For Tillers Union Friendship Dailies

The Tillers Union Friendship gaining daily quests are only available once per day (unlocked at level 90), but completing each one for ever Tillers Union farmer every day takes a ton of materials.  These daily requirements can get pretty hefty if you are trying to complete each quest on multiple alts.  Due to the sheer volume required on a daily basis, all of the required materials are nice additions to your gold making business.  Even if you don't plan on completing a single one of the Farming quests or don't want to raise your Tillers Union reputation, you need to still be aware of the value of these items.  You will collect some of these materials just from looting mobs while questing, so be sure to sell them and don't vendor them or delete them.  As more players start to reach the required level 90 for these quests, the demand for these items will continue to increase.

Here is a master list of what materials are required on a daily basis to complete each Tillers Union quest every day.

Meats
  • 5 Raw Turtle Meat
  • 5 Raw Tiger Steak
  • 5 Wildfowl Breast
Fish
  • 5 Reef Octopus
  • 10 Jade Lungfish
  • 5 Giant Mantis Shrimp
  • 10 Krasarang Paddlefish
  • 5 Emporer Salmon
Crops
  • 15 Scallions
  • 25 Juicycrunch Carrots
  • 15 Striped Melon
If you are looking for crops to grow on your farm to be able to sell for a profit, then be sure to look into all 3 of the require crops for the daily quests.  Juicycrunch Carrots are required in the initial quest, more are required for the follow-up quest (unlike the others which award your 5 items back), and even more are required for the Tillers Union dailies and they are required in the largest quanities of all.  It's no suprise that the Juicycrunch Carrots have been very profitable on many of the WoW servers thus far.

So know what you loot, grow, or fish up and make sure to either use them items yourself or sell them to wanna-be Tillers.

How have your crop sales been thus far?

Is There A New Profession In The Mists Of Pandaria WoW Expansion?

WoW Expansions And New Professions

The Burning Crusade expansion introduced Jewelcrafting as a new profession.
The Wrath of the Lich King expansion brought us the Inscription profession.
The Cataclysm expansion brought the Archaeology profession to World of Warcraft.

Is there a new profession coming in Mists of Pandaria (MoP)?

"No new professions are planned."

You are getting the pet battle system instead of a new profession.  At least we have another class being added, which will bring extra sales opportunities.  Cooking is supposed to get specializations.  Blizzard has removed most of the other profession specializations.  Now they are adding one, and to Cooking of all things?

Chocolate Cookies for WoW Cheevos

New Achievement in Patch 4.1

Since Patch 4.1, one of the new achievements that have been added to World of Warcraft involves eating a ton of Chocolate Cookies.  The first Chocolate Cookie gives you a buff which makes you feel 100% better.  Each additional cookie adds a cumulative extra 10%.  The achievement You'll Feel Right As Rain requires you to eat 91 of the Chocolate Cookies to get enough of the stacked buff to complete the achievement.  Remember in The Matrix when the Oracle told Neo to eat the chocolate cookie and by the time he finished eating it he would "feel right as rain"?  Eating a single Chocolate Cookie is also a requirement for the mega Cataclysm eating achievement Cataclysmically Delicious.

Selling Chocolate Cookies

The recipe for the Chocolate Cookie is obtained from the cooking vendors in major cities that exchange Cataclysm Chef Awards for Cooking recipes.  The Chocolate Cookie recipe requires just 1 Simple Flour and 1 Cocoa Beans per Cookie.  The Cocoa Beans are obtained from the same vendors.  For a single Chef Award you can obtain a bag of Imported Supplies, which will contain a lot of cocoa beans.  The amount received appears to be somewhat random.

You can make a nice business for yourself supplying these cookies, if the auction house doesn't appear to have much competition.  Another great benefit about these cookies is that you have something to spend your extra Chef Awards on when you have all of the new Cataclysm Recipes.  If you don't collect all the recipes on all of your alts, then you can also have your alternate characters buy a bunch of the bags of Imported Supplies and mail the Cocoa Beans to your cook for more profits.

I was originally selling these for around 12g each before others starting getting in on this cookie action!  Make sure to check your auction house and see if your market would be profitable for you to try to sell these cookies as well.  You may also be able to unload the Cocoa Beans on the auction house as well.

Mysterious Fortune Cards & Fortune Cookies

Goblinish Wisdom
The Interaction of Scribes and Cooks

Fortune Cookie and Fortune Cards are an interesting pair of craftable items that perplex me.  Fortune Cookies are a nice consumable that will be created by the cooking profession.  These Fortune Cookies require 1 Simple Flour and 1 Mysterious Fortune Card for each cookie.  The Simple Flour can be bought at any cooking vendor, but the Fortune Card must be crafted by a scribe through the inscription profession.  The Mysterious Fortune Card only requires 1 Resilient Parchment and only 1 Blackfallow Ink, which comes from the pigments of Cataclysm herbs.  I myself like to craft these type of items for profit because the interaction of requiring multiple professions tends to lower the number of competitors.  A good current example is Fused Wiring, which requires a jewelcrafter and an engineer to craft, and aren't typically a heavy competition item on the auction house.

To Gamble, To Cook, Or Both?

Gambling
Now for the perplexing part.  The Mysterious Fortune Card is a new form of World of Warcraft in-game gambling.  Just crafting the card itself, you can sell it outright to gamblers or gamble yourself.  Using the Mysterious Fortune Cards give you 1 of 58 possible vendorable Fortune Cards that sell for anywhere from 10 silver to 5000 gold.  Yeah, you didn't misread that.  1 Mysterious Fortune Card can turn into 1 Fortune Card, which will vendor for the nice sum of 5k gold!  Fortune cards can vendor for 5k, 1k, 200g, 50g, 20g, 5g, 1g, 50s, or 10s.  So in a sense it is gambling for gold.

Cooking
The option other than gambling is to use the Mysterious Fortune Card to create a Fortune Cookie.  These cookies give a nice 1 hr buff of +90 Stamina and +90 to a player's prime stat.  The crazy thing is once you eat the cookie you receive a Fortune Card just like if you had used it gambling.  The card from the Fortune cookie is the vendorable version, not the reagant version.

Fortune Card Market Fluctuations

As auctioneers we need to be on alert and watching the markets for both Mysterious Fortune Cards and Fortune Cookies.  If you are looking to gamble and try your luck at getting a profit from these cards, then instead of buying or using the Mysterious Fortune Cards it may be cheaper at times to just buy the Fortune Cookies and eat those.  If the auction house market was in equilibrium, then the Mysterious Fortune Cards would be near the same price of the Fortune Cookies.  I am sure we will have some chances to play within both of these markets as players will be unaware of this relationship.  Scribes and cooks both should see nice demand and profits from both of these items.

Options For Mysterious Fortune Cards

There could exist other options for using these Fortune Cards.  The 5k ones will be rare, but instead of vendoring for 5k you may be able to hold these and sell for a little more than 5k.  Why?  Players that are transferring servers are only allowed to transfer with a maximum amount of gold.  Therefore, some transferring players may be looking for high value items to take along in a non-liquidated form to further maximize the starter gold on their new server.

Gold Sellers could also be on the lookout for using these cards as a much more discreet way of paying players for their gold they have purchased unscrupulously.  Blizzard may keep a close eye on lareg exchanges of liquid gold, but will they be watching for these high value items?  Just food for thought...

Tracker Snacks for Turkinator Achievement

Run Tom Turkey, Run!
Hunting Turkeys
So you wanna be a Turkinator?  The achievement Turkinator is not fun to try to complete.  You simply can't take the time to loot your turkeys or you won't get turkey triumph.  It is also hard to see the turkeys since they are so small and blend with the ground.  Tracker Snacks are an excellent item to use to track the turkeys on your mini-map and greatly increase your chances of gaining turkey triumph and completing the achievement.  Tracker Snacks are also an excellent item to create and sell on the World of Warcraft auction house.

Tracker Snacks
To be able to cook these tracker snacks, you must have a skill level of 400 in Cooking.  You can purchase this recipe from your cooking supplier in Dalaran or from the cooking supplier at the Argent Tournament grounds in Icecrown.  The cost to purchase the Recipe: Tracker Snacks is 3 Dalaran Cooking Award tokens from completing Dalaran cooking daily quests.  These Snacks require just 1 Shoveltusk Flank and 1 Northern Spices.  The shoveltusk flanks are very easy to farm in Howling Fjord where the shoveltusks roam in packs.  So gather up some shoveltusk flanks and dust off those extra northern spices sitting in your bank and covert them into some excellent cooked goods to sell during Pilgrim's Bounty.  As with any holiday demand spiked item, these will sell best the first few days of the Pilgrim's Bounty event.  Make sure to advertise these in trade chat also as some people may need reminded that these are a great help for becoming a turkinator.

Any other creative ideas for profiting off Pilgrim's Bounty?

Pilgrim's Bounty - Easy Cooking Skills & Sales

Cheap Cooking Skill Ups

Pilgrim's Bounty will run November 22nd to November 28th. This World of Warcraft holiday event is a great time to raise the cooking skills of any characters that haven't been levelling their cooking. Maybe you haven't even rasie your cooking skill on your main. This will be the time to raise you cooking skills. By using just the 5 recipes only sold during Pilgrim's Bounty, you can raise your cooking skill to around 350. The final recipe turns grey at 355. This method only uses materials bought during the holiday and is the most efficient way to level cooking.

Selling Cooking Recipes
Pilgrim's Bounty is also another great time to sell cooking recipes. Since many people will use this holiday to level cooking cheaply, they will also be looking to purchase other recipes to continue to raise their cooking skill higher. Since the easy skill-ups end around skill 340-350, focus on posting various recipes that start around this cooking level. It is also a great time to unload some meats and fish that you don't need. Prices will jump as people leveling cooking need raw materials to cook.
