August WoW Gold Blogging Carnival - Summer Adaptation

Cold's Monthly Gold Blogging Carnival

Cold's Gold Blogging Carnival

Welcome to the August edition of Cold's Monthly Gold Blogging Carnivals. These carnivals will continue to take place the 11th day of every month and will be hosted here at Cold's Gold Factory. All World of Warcraft bloggers are welcome to participate and feedback both here and on the original authors' sites is strongly encouraged. So show some support and please leave some feedback in the comments section. These bloggers put a lot of time and hard work into these blogging carnival posts. Please let them know what you think of their blogging carnival entries.

If you would like to be included in the next month's carnival, please review the guidelines for Cold's Gold Blogging Carnivals and submit your link via email (ssmith0911 at live dot com) before the 10th of the month. Read up on the benefits of blogging carnivals at my other blog designed to help new bloggers, Blogging Vitals. Articles are listed in the order they are received. Thank you to all the bloggers participating in this months carnival!  Participate in the Blogging Carnivals and get a quality linkback to your site.

This Month's Topic:

Have You Had To Adapt Your Gold Making For The Summer?
My first guide, Mysterious Fortune Card Mastery, has been helping a handful of players (83+ sold so far) who have already got their fortune card business up and running and are raking in the WoW gold. Also remember to check out the other great guides in the WoW Gold Guide Shop.

Be sure to check out AuctionHouseJunkies.com for the podcast on making gold, which is hosted by myself and Wes of Capped By Cata. Goldgrub's Goblin Academy is a Warcraft only site for helping newer gold makers.  Diablo 3 Gold Tips is also up and running with a handful of posts to check out at http://www.diablo3goldtips.com/.  Wes and I will both be writing about making gold and cash in Diablo III.  So make sure to sign up for the RSS feed and learn from a couple of pros.

Goldgrub's is growing nicely and we have added a new writer to the staff.  Nev, of the AH Addict WoW gold blog, has partnered up with us and has released a few excellent articles already.  Be sure to look for Nev and her weekly posts on Wednesdays.

Episode #106 - WoW Summer Auction House Strategy by George of The Mana Cooler Podcast.
The Mana Cooler is back for another shortcast of this months topic!

Increase Postings, Good Buys, and New Markets.

Summer Time Blues by Epidermuss of Wrags To Riches
The first thing to realise about the summer break and any other holiday time is anyone who plays that has something to do with education has a lot more time to play, especially students from comprehensive’s, college’s or University’s, but it not just confined to these groups. So what that means is people have more time to play that they dedicate to professions or the auction house.

That's all for this month's Carnival, unfortunately.  The summer has seen many gold blogs die completely, especially after the sink or swim tactic of removing the blogroll at JMTC.  Some of the still standing bloggers are taking vacations and breaks from blogging over the summer months.  Hopefully we will see more participation in next month's gold blogging carnival.

  1. What's this jmtc you keep referring to? Is it a site? Link?

JMTC is another wow gold making site. I wont link to JMTC, as I am not a supporter of the site or their fictitious articles about me, but a google search for JMTC will get you there.

All I'm saying about JMTC in this article is that since they were the biggest site and they completely removed their blogrolls, it created a "sink or swim" effect for all of the blogs on their old blogroll. Since those blogs could no longer leech traffic just from being in the blogroll, each blog had to find their own sources of traffic from other options.

What happened? Many of the newer and or smaller blogs have completely quit all together. Others are on break over the summer or for a given "Blogging vacation" amount of time. Since there are less bloggers left to start with there aren't as many writers to contribute to the carnivals at this time.

I have had some normal participants in this carnival who did contact me because they are out of the office on buisness, on IRL vacation, or super busy and unable to get to a post. They will return to participating when able.

I'm not in any way attacking JMTC for removing the blogroll or blaming them for having only 2 entries for the carnival here.

Hell, I applauded the removal. Sink or Swim is fine for those that know what they are doing or aren't afraid to ask for help or learn on their own. The copycats have all but vanished now too, which is another benefit that the blogroll removal may have contributed to. Killing off the blogroll has been great, but any peek at the posting schedules lately on all gold blogs combined has been slower over the summer and since the removal. There aren't many daily posters left either and it ain't always easy to come up with content on your own every day for extended amounts of time.

Hell, I just passed the 500th post milestone and let me tell you, "That's a lot harder than one may imagine, especially solo."

  3. Thanks for answering the question. I looked up jmtc and holy sh** they are big. 114xx readers!? I can imagine this hurt a lot of bloggers, even this site. Perhaps it contributed to all those vacations you mentioned. Why don't you build up a community like jmtc?

I am liking their forum in particular, pretty sweet having all that stuff in one place.

Shame you didn't get along with them. I think it's sad that anyone competes here because it means less content for me! Try to keep the posts interesting and the drama down. Commenting has all but died here since I began reading three weeks ago.

  4. Just remember:

    Bigger isn't always better.

Not everything you read is true.

  5. In this case however, bigger is better. They have more information, and in many cases better information. There's simply more brains working together for the same goal. Not that you're bad, just that they are better.
